Different types of Industrial Valves and their Applications

A valve is a device that controls the flow of substance by opening or closing. Valves are considered to be an important aspect while implementing the pipelines. The flow of pipes would be uncontrollable without the valves. There are different types of valves available in the market to adjust the flow of different materials in different ways. Here we have curated a list of various types of valves that are used for adjusting the flow of pipes in different ways. You can buy this valves from Concorde Valves and Automation who are authorized dealer of Kitz Valves in Mumbai. Now, let’s have a look on the list and know about applications of these valves.
  1. Ball Valve

A ball Valve is a valve that controls the flow of liquid or gas by a rotatory ball inside it. You need to rotate the ball up to 90 degrees to start or stop the flow of the substance passing through it. There are 2, 3 and 4-way ball valves available in the market. They generally come in three types of shapes either L-shape or T-shape or V-shape. There are three different types of ball valves that are derived from their operators:
1. Electric Ball Valve: This valve comes with the electric actuators that control the operation of valve electrically.
2. Pneumatic Ball Valve: This valve comes with the rotatory pneumatic actuators.
3. Manual Ball Valve: This valve contains a handle on the top and is operated manually by moving it up to 90 degrees in the following direction.
2. Butterfly Valve

Butterfly valve comes with a channel and a paddle that is fixed to a channel at the central axis. The paddle works as the door that is of disc shape and you can spin it to open or close the valve. Butterfly valves are easy to use in comparison with other valves. They are used for the flow of large volume material. These valves are very compact in size and can fit at any place. There are three types of butterfly valves available in the market based on the actuators connected with them.
1. Electrically operated Butterfly Valves: These valves come with the electric operator and offers a high range of output torque.
2. Pneumatically butterfly valves: These valves are highly durable and work for a long time without any maintenance.
3. Manually operated butterfly valves: They come with a handle on top which you need to press to rotate the disc for the flow of valve.
3. Knife Gate Valve

Knife Gate valve are manufactured for tough conditions. They can help in the controlling the flow of all states of materials solid, liquid and air. They work exactly as their name says, like the knife. The flow of substance stops completely when the valve is closed even if there are any particles left at the bottom. There are two types of knife valves available in the market.
1. Manual Knife Gate Valve: There is a wheel given at the top of the valve. You can rotate it to open or close the valve.
2. Pneumatic Knife Gate Valve: This valves come with the pneumatic actuator at the top and allows the material to flow easily without forming clusters.
